Our neighborhood for the better?

A few years ago, J and I where watching the beginning of Bones and we heard gunshots.  J grabbed his phone and his gun and told me to get down.  Then he called 911.  There had been a gang (MS13) related shooting in front of our house, where 3 people where hurt and one was  paralyzed.  The whole incident was surreal.

Well, a few months ago, I heard that they finally caught and convicted the guy who did the shooting.  (Read more here).  So that is one thing that makes me feel a little better.  As a reaction to this there where a series of community meetings.  J and I went to them.  They where always filled to capacity as a lot of people where upset by what was happening.  As a result of those meetings, our area finally got a police station.  I really hope this makes things better for our area b/c I really don't want to raise kids in an area that has so much violence.  (Read more here).
